We're excited to support your journey in mastering the Portuguese language! Before you dive into our courses and the CIPLE exam, please review our Terms and Conditions carefully. By enrolling, you agree to abide by these terms, ensuring a smooth and productive experience for everyone.

1. Purpose and Scope

These Terms and Conditions outline the responsibilities and rights of students at Binary Language School concerning the Portuguese language test (CIPLE) and related programs. Your registration signifies your acceptance of these terms, which are in accordance with Portuguese law, particularly the regulations set by CAPLE (Centro de Avaliação de Português Língua Estrangeira).

2. Test Requirements

2.1 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the CIPLE exam, essential for citizenship purposes, students must demonstrate proficiency at the A2 level.

2.2 Identification

Candidates must present valid identification on the exam day. Acceptable documents include:

• Passport
• ID card
• Residence permit

2.3 Exam Structure

The CIPLE exam consists of three components:

• Reading Comprehension and Writing Production: 1 hour 15 minutes (45% of total grade)
• Listening Comprehension: 30 minutes (30% of total grade)
• Oral Production: 15 minutes (25% of total grade)

2.4 Grading System

Final grades are awarded as follows:

• Failed: 0-54%
• Sufficient: 55-69%
• Good: 70-84%
• Very Good: 85-100%

A minimum score of 55% is required to pass.

3. Certificate Use and Misuse

Binary Language School disclaims any responsibility for the misuse of the CIPLE certificate. Students are required to use the certificate ethically and in accordance with the intended purpose. Misuse may lead to legal repercussions.

4. Attendance Policy

Attendance is crucial for success! Students must adhere to the course schedule as outlined by instructors. Consistent participation is necessary to fulfill course requirements.

5. Certificate Issuance

Upon successful completion of the course and exam, students will receive their certificate directly from CAPLE. This typically occurs within approximately two weeks after the exam. Please note: Binary Language School is not responsible for any delays in certificate issuance by CAPLE, as the timing is subject to their policies and procedures.

5.1 Alternative Certification

Students wishing to obtain an A2 level certificate without taking the exam may do so by providing proof of 150 hours of attendance at an accredited school or center in Portugal or another Portuguese-speaking country.

6. Legal Compliance and Non-Liability

These Terms and Conditions are aligned with Portuguese laws, including but not limited to:

• Decree-Law No. 104/2018: Regulating the teaching of Portuguese as a Foreign Language.
• Law No. 23/2009: Establishing the legal framework for language assessment.
• Civil Code Articles 186, 188, and 389: Governing obligations and contracts.

By enrolling, students acknowledge that all disputes will be addressed through internal channels at Binary Language School, and no legal action may be taken against the school concerning course outcomes or certification.

7. Amendments

Binary Language School reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be communicated promptly to ensure transparency.

8. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal.
